Okay, here's the information for creating, saving, and posting  your Mii avatar on the Saugus Union School District Student Community.

1.  To save the avatar you first must create a folder on your desktop where you can store pictures, etc.  Call it Wiki_Pics.  

     Open up your web browser and click on this link:  Mii Avatar

2.  Create an avatar that reflects your looks and personality using all of the tools on the site.  This should take a while. 

     Have fun and be creative.

      If you can not save an image at home, don't worry about it.  We can work on it in class.

3.  When you are finished making an avatar,  find the "Print Screen" or "Screen Shot" button on your keyboard.  Press it. 

     Nothing will happen, but it will be saved.

4.  Go to programs, find Accessories, and open the "Paint" program.  Hit Control V or Paste the screen shot onto the blank canvas.

     Or paste the image into the folder you made in step 1, Wiki_Pics.  It will be saved as a scrap folder. 

     This is the tricky part.  Ask a brother, sister, or parent for help.

5.  In the Paint program you will use the Select Tool (looks like a square or rectangle) to capture only the head and shoulders of your avatar.

6.  You will also have to shorten the screen/canvas so only the avatar is saved. If you are working with the scrap folder, open it. 

     It will  probably open in a default program such as Windows Picture Manager or another program used to edit pictures. 

    Crop the picture and save it.

 7.  Now save the image in Jpeg format to the folder on your desktop.

  I was also able to crop the image in my Picture Manager program and then saved it to the desktop folder.  Seemed easier to me.

8.  If you did not run into too many glitches you can now upload to your page.
